"Empowering Purpose through Faith"
Her Story
Valerie Bradshaw was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Much of her childhood was spent overcoming poverty in the Fort Greene housing projects in Brooklyn, as well as navigating time spent in foster care in Queens, New York. These early life experiences shaped her resilience, compassion, and unwavering commitment to serving others.
After experiencing significant personal challenges, including surviving domestic violence and overcoming childhood trauma, Valerie embarked upon a journey of healing, self-discovery, and purpose. Her lived experiences inspired her passion for mental health advocacy, community outreach, and empowering individuals who have faced adversity.
Valerie often speaks openly about the connection between unresolved trauma, mental health challenges, and domestic violence, encouraging others to pursue healing for the mind, body, and spirit.
While living in New Jersey, Valerie began developing the vision that would later become AGAINST ALL ODDZ Still I RISE Grassroots Movement and Ministry — a faith-based 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to transforming lives through transparency. On May 19, 2018, she officially launched the ministry in Gastonia, North Carolina, creating a platform that provides advocacy, education, resources, mentorship, and support to individuals and families facing life's challenges.
Valerie is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, domestic violence prevention, homelessness, economic empowerment, re-entry support, health and wellness, and community development. Through her ministry and outreach efforts, she strives to create safe spaces where individuals can heal, discover purpose, and rise above adversity.
A recipient of several awards and recognitions, including the John Hope Franklin Humanitarian Award, Valerie is recognized for her tireless commitment to serving communities and amplifying the voices of those who often go unheard.
